Alchemy 101

An introduction to the science and art of alchemy. In this workshop we will look briefly into the history of alchemy, some of its various concepts, ideas and symbols, and how one can incorporate alchemy into their own workings.

Arcanus Greywolf

Arcanus Greywolf has been a practicing pagan and student of the occult for going on about 25 years. He has been a solitary, a convener, a High Priest and has become a solitary once more. He has always been fascinated with magick from both the earth-based religions as well as the ""high-magick"" that was practiced by the ancients and occult scholars of the middle ages. He sees alchemy and western occult traditions as the ""science"" once practiced by people even as early as 150 years ago. He blends both modern theoretical science with alchemy and natural philosophy into his own personal philosophy and spirituality. He feels something was lost when mankind turned to hard empirical science and alchemy became a ""pseudo"" science. This has caused him to earn a reputation of being a ""mad scientist"" by some.

Arcanus Greywolf is not yet illustrious, but is an aspiring writer of poetry, modern-fantasy and science fiction involving esoteric topics such as alchemy. He enjoys sharing his knowledge experiences with others in hopes that they too will combine "above with below" and create the Philosopher's Stone for themselves.

Animism in Ritual and Everyday Life

Animism is the belief that all things have a spirit, and that this spirit has some level of consciousness and some awareness of other spirits around it, an awareness that comes with desires, responsibilities and choices. When you have fully incorporated this belief into your world view, it brings with it real respect for nature and a sense of our humble place in the universe. We will discuss applying animism, not only in our spiritual pursuits, but also while washing our hair, driving to work, preparing lunch, and cleaning the house.

Johnson Davis

Both deeply spiritual and terribly irreverent, I have followed Pagan paths for about 26 years. Lately, I have served as a Local Coordinator for Pagan Pride Raleigh, as the Southern U.S. Regional Coordinator for the International Pagan Pride Project, and an officer with the Church of the Earth in Raleigh.

Basic Energy Healing

This workshop will be a basic introduction to healing interactions on the metaphysical plain, beginning with a discussion of basic interpretations of the definition of "spirit" , spiritual energy, life force, chi, chakra energy, and innate intelligence and moving into a more advance understanding of each spirit's potential for natural healing and a beginning foray into sensing energy and focusing energy for healing. The interactions will be primarily an information offering session with some limited hands on experiences, and an opportunity for other attendees to share techniques and experiences.

Dr. Eric Hahn

Dr. Eric Hahn is the owner of Hahn Family Chiropractic and has been serving the Raleigh area for 8 years as a chiropractor and metaphysical energy healer. Having graduated from the founding school for chiropractic Dr. Hahn returned to the roots of Chiropractic teachings through the writings of DD Palmer and has made those leanings accessible through his practice. By working one on one with individual patients over the years Dr. Hahn has found that everyone has the ability to heal naturally, and to help their own bodies heal energetically. They just need some basic guidance to get there. Through his one on one practice work and workshops he has been sharing this understanding with patients from all over the country for the last 3 years.

Centering, Grounding, and Shielding

Roots down, branches up!

Sometimes we wander around life with our head in the clouds, distracted, seemingly unconnected to the earth and the world around us.  Sometimes the world feels too loud, people feel too prickly, we feel emotionally exhausted.  How do we become fully present and protect ourselves from the things that drain us?  We’ll explore and practice a variety of techniques to center, ground, and shield ourselves from the things we don’t choose to absorb.

Rev. Jason Bzdula is an ordained minister and third degree elder of the Circle of Salgion church of Wicca and has been practicing Wicca for over 18 years.
Laurel follows an eclectic Pagan path, is a mixed media artist, Priestess, and a member of the Council of Church of the Earth.  Living on both coasts, and many places in between has given her a broad experience of Paganism and spirituality, art, and life.  She has studied art, architecture and design, music, meditation, tarot, and a wide range of metaphysical disciplines.

Connecting Crystals and Minerals to the Chakras

Chakras are the energy centers of the human emotional and physical bodies. Crystals, minerals, and fossils vibrate healing energies that connect to physical dis-eases and emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges and/or ailments. By matching the energetic vibrations of crystals and minerals to the chakras, you can learn to heal yourself.

RockBelly’s Chad and Jennifer Beacham will connect crystals and minerals to the chakras and give suggestions for building your own healing chakra set of stones. An overview of the chakra system will be included. Examples of crystals, minerals, and fossils will be displayed, connected to specific chakras for healing, and be available for purchase at the workshop and the RockBelly tent.

Chad and Jennifer Beacham

Chad and Jennifer Beacham have worked with crystals and minerals for many years and are the owners of RockBelly, a crystal-focused venture that includes jewelry, fossils, and Shipibo crafts. Chad and Jennifer have studied spiritual traditions from around the world, including yoga and other Eastern philosophies as well as American indigenous traditions.

Encountering the Spirits of Place (Part 1) - History

Wights and fairies and brownies, nymphs and landvaettir and lares - pagan traditions have a long history of interaction with localized spirits of place. We discuss precedents and patterns in the relationships we develop with the spirits of the land, the city, the household and other local areas, and we take a look at how American spiritual movements have influenced modern paganism's approach to nature.

Part 1 of a two-part series; Part 2 will feature discussion and practical ideas for developing relationships with land, household and other local spirits.

Triangle Area Pagan Alliance

This workshop was put together by the steering committee of the Triangle Area Pagan Alliance, combining research from multiple cultures and practical knowledge from our personal, everyday work with the spirits of our households, city and local land. Two of our committee members are members of Ár nDraíocht Féin, one with a focus on Celtic culture and traditions, the other with a focus on Roman and Hellenic culture and traditions. Our third committee member is a Wiccan high priestess and coordinator of Gaia's Circle, an eclectic Durham-based group that celebrates the eight High Days with ritual and gatherings. We've tested a beta version of this workshop at a recent TAPA gathering, with good results and positive feedback from participants.

Finding Your Own Path

Using my spiritual journey as an example talk about how our paths can go any direction. And how amazing it can be. But also how learning something can be valid later even if at the time it was unconnected. And to finish up I express how regardless of what you believe it's how one believes what they say.

Adam Craven

Have a bachelors of philosophy with a minor in ancient religion, my path has lead me down many roads. Filled with seemingly unconnected random passes, but have found in the end it was all relevant. Last year I received all high remarks.

She now devotes her life to serving the Divine and helping others access the majestic treasures of Spirit. Her gifts include channeling ancient shaman ancestors, invoking the angelic realm, speaking with the dearly departed, card readings, clairvoyance, clairaudience, automatic writing, crystal ball gazing, life purpose readings, ancestral healing, and dream interpretation. She is strongly guided and supported by a team of loving angels, knowledgeable spirit guides, and benevolent elders. Most popularly known on the other side as “a gate keeper”, she bridges the physical plane of our world to the beautiful world of Holy Spirit.

Nourishing Elder Culture

At this structured discussion, we will talk about the role of the honored elder in our community. Honored elders are a powerful resource for passing on traditions and sharing wisdom, love and support with younger generations. Our local Pagan community can be strengthened by this work, as can our families and neighborhoods. The generations need each other - elders, youngers and everyone in between is invited to participate. Everyone will have a chance to speak. Let's learn together about how we can support one another!

We will begin by introducing the concept of intent and that spells can be done as simply or complexly as the caster desires so long as s/he keeps the intent in the forefront. However, using poetry can be a lot of fun for spellwriting.

We then delve into six different kinds of poetry and allow attendees time to write their own poems and share with the group, as they feel fit.
